Mr. Neal is the School Principal and is the Senior Room teacher about two days a week. “The best thing about being a principal is when a kid does something that she or he think they can’t do.” If he couldn’t be a principal or teacher he would of been a sports reporter. His favourite sport is rugby and he likes cricket. He likes playing with his 3 kids at home. He has 1 cat called Jetstar but he calls it cat and 2 guinea pigs called Dora and Flora. He wants a dog. He likes his job because he enjoys working with school kids. He loves pancakes with lots of maple syrup. He likes Banana plants they’re his favourite plant. He is the best principal.

 

Jenny is the School Administrator. Jenny answers the phone, writes emails and does the School Newsletter. She helps us when we don't feel well. She is always smiling. She has lots of animals at home like a small farm.

Mrs. Scorrar is the Middle Room teacher and she thinks we are a fun class. She’s been a teacher for 4 years in England and New Zealand. She likes taking her dog, Anode, for a walk. She lives in the country on an 8 acre farm and she and her husband have been building a well. It is halfway done. She likes eating curry and also hot chips. She plays indoor netball and likes sleeping. She has 3 parrots, some bees, a dog and 6 chickens.  Her favourite colour is blue and she likes reading. She also enjoys watching movies on the projector. She’s a very cool teacher.

Whaea Jane teaches in the Senior Room 3 to 4 days a week. Her name is Jane Bosecke, but we call her Whaea Jane. Whaea means teacher in Maori. She likes all types of sports. Whaea Jane plays hockey in the winter and touch rugby in the summer. She was born in England and is married to Steve (an Australian!) and they have 4 sons. Jared is 19, Dale is 16, Corey is 12 and Brodie is 9. She lives in a lovely sunny house on a small farm with lots of trees and bushes. Her house is brown with green trim and has a verandah with grapevines cascading down it.

Kath is the Junior Room teacher. She took a year off to look after her new baby, Harrison. She lives on a farm in Rosedale with her partner. She has 2 dogs and 300 sheep. She has been teaching for 9 years. Her hobbies are reading, walking the dogs, going out for tea and playing the guitar. She was born in Rotorua. The sport she likes to play is bowls.

Greta Greenwood is one of our relief teachers. She has been a teacher for 12 years in Hope, Rotorua and in London. She enjoys the beach, friends, painting and playing with her boys. Her husband’s name is Philip and she has 4 boys, Theo 8, Lewis 6, Clay 4 and Reuben 1. Her favourite hobbies are art, walking, and watching movies. She has a dog called Jess, a cat called Tuesday, a rabbit called Peter and 2 axylotls. She loves teaching especially kids like you find at Mahana School. Greta designed and painted the beautiful butterfly mural in the playground.

Karen Skilton is the teacher aide. She lives in Richmond and has two sons, Michael 26 in Australia, and Marc 18 in Wellington. Karen likes gardening, horse riding, reading and waka armor. She likes to eat seafood, chocolate, broccoli and ice cream, but perhaps not together! Karen has a pet frog called Kim who is brown and as big as a thumb. She has to catch flies in a net to feed him. Her favourite colours are purple and yellow. Karen likes working at Mahana School because its nice and quiet, the people are cool and she just likes being here.
